Most off automotive batteries have a life cycle of 5-6 years. Some will keep working longer than that and others don't last that long. Some of that depends on how many times the battery died due to be drained, or an issue with the alternator. Another factor is the climate that you live in. It is most likely smoking because it has a leak. When oil leaks onto the exhaust it can cause smoke. While it doesn't happen all the time it could catch on fire and cause an even bigger issue. Inside your differential you have bearings or gears or both. When it starts to make noise then it most likely means that they are worn out and are due for replacement. Preventative maintenance with regular fluid services can extend the life of your differential by many years. They typically need be to be serviced every 30K - 50K miles so depending on how much you drive every couple of years or so. If your car is leaking oil or any substance it's best to have it checked out. The fluids in your car are the life blood of it and if it runs out of oil then it can cause substantial damage to your engine. If you have one headlight that repeatedly goes out you may have an issue with the socket or in the wiring to the headlight causing the issue. Especially right now in winter when it's dark when you leave for work and dark when you get home it's so important to be able to see where you are going and to be seen on those foggy mornings. If your car won't turn over it could be an issue with the electrical system. The best thing would be to have it towed to the shop where we can take a look at it and get you back to where you want to be. A break down is never fun and it's even worse when you have places you need to be.   Batteries have all have a life span, most automotive batteries will last between 5 to 6 years without replacement. There is of course always an exception to the rule. If your battery has been drained aka lights have been left on or your alternator has caused an issue then it can dramatically shorten the life of your battery and if may have to be replaced sooner rather than later. Also if you don't drive often it can cause your battery to discharge and it can also shorten the life. You could also have an issue with the charging system in your car. If the alternator is not working properly and it's not charging your battery like it should then it could cause it to die also.  We do free electrical checks, stop by and we will check your electrical system on your vehicle. If your car is making a noise when turning you could have an issue within the suspension. Your brake fluid could be low indicating that you need to replace the front or rear or both brake pads or shoes. It could also mean that you have a leak some where. If you do have a leak then getting it checked and fixed is important since stopping is one of those things that is really important. Along with changing your brake pads when they are due.
