No. You do not have to go back to the dealership for your regular maintenance - ie. oil changes, tune ups, fluid services. If you have a factory recall or warranty claim you do have to go back to the dealership to have that completed, everything else you can take it to your favorite shop and they can do the work for you. We see many newer vehicles that still have the factory warranty, when we find something that needs repaired and it's covered under the warranty we always make sure that we have complete documentation that includes pictures, if needed we will also take a video for you. We here this sometimes and typically it's an older vehicle that just needs some regular maintenance. Now your vehicle may not be worth per blue book what it could take to keep it on the road, but with the same money could you go out and buy a different vehicle that is in better shape. 9 times out of 10 no you can't. Now if you're in the market for a newer vehicle or a new one, then take the money and put it as a down payment on that new vehicle.  To us as long as you're safe on the road that's what really matters. We get that most people don't tow, but if you do or if you're looking into it you need to make sure everything is ready to go. A pre-trip inspection will make sure you're brakes and lights are all in working order. We also suggest that if it's been awhile since you went anywhere that you hookup the week or two prior to make sure all your lights and connections are ready to go. There is nothing wrong with bio-diesel as long as your pickup's engine is made to use it. Many older diesel vehicles can handle the bio-diesel. Newer modern diesels use a high pressure fuel system and the pumps often cannot function properly and could even be damaged from a higher percentage of bio-diesel in the fuel. You should check your owner's manual or give us a call and we would be happy to look up what tolerance of bio-diesel your engine can tolerate. Since you're driving a diesel you should always keep on hand a high quality diesel fuel additive just in case you're ever in a situation that you have to use a bio-diesel that your vehicle may not tolerate well.   Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather  

If your vehicle suddenly starts to blow white smoke then you should pull over as soon as it is safe to do so and to turn off your engine. Typically that means that something has gone wrong in your engine and it will need to be diagnosed. Did you know that when go to change a flat tire that you need to put the spare tire opposite of your drive tires.  If your car is front wheel drive and the flat is in the front then you will move one of your rear tires to the front and put your spare on the rear. The same is true if you have a rear wheel drive you would just do the opposite. Now if you have an all wheel drive vehicle then you need to have a spare tire that is the same size as your regular tires - in this case it doesn't matter where you put it.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. There are a quite a few components to your air conditioning system. If it's not blowing cold you could have a leak or your condenser could have restricted air flow causing your air conditioner to not function as it should.    If your air conditioner isn't blowing cold give us a call and let us keep you cool this summer.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Yes we do. They are just one of the services that we provide to our customers. We work on all makes, models, and years. We service brand new cars as well as vintage and classic cars. European, asian and domestic we can take care of them all.  We do have several older and more rare cars, if you have one of them we are happy to help you with it, we just ask that you give us enough notice to make sure we have the proper engine oil filter and oil. Every engine is different and many take a very specific oil. While we have a wide variety of oil on hand if for some reason if we don't have the required oil for your vehicles engine we will order it so that it's here for you appointment.  Appointments are not necessary, but they are suggested. Many days we have open times to get you in, on a day like that we just ask that you leave your vehicle and we will get it in as soon as we can. Today marks the 14th anniversary of when we opened the doors of J & H Automotive. We want to wish everyone a very happy independence day. We hope you get to enjoy this day with your family and friends. We have a family tradition to go down to the Harrisburg parade each year. We hope you have similar traditions with your family. The shop will be closed July 4th and 5th this year to allow our employees to have an extra day to spend with family.
