Summer seems to be taking it sweet time in getting here. It tricked us last month and we had a week or more of beautiful warm weather, then it turned cold and windy like early spring again. I'm not sure what's going on, but I would love more of that warm weather. With warm weather brings the need to turn on your air conditioner, especially if you live in the valley and have allergies.  Your air conditioner hasn't been something you've probably thought about since last fall when you turned it off for the winter. It worked then why doesn't it work now?? Well all winter you were still using your air conditioner compressor when you used your defroster. It could be your just low on refrigerant or you could have a leak somewhere. The weather's been much nicer the last few days, it's been warm enough that when I'm driving that I am turning on the air conditioner in my car. If your's isn't blowing cold there is a good chance that you have a leak in the air conditioning system that is letting the refrigerant leak out.  In order to find the leak, we have to perform a test and fill the system with a fluid that allows us to see where the leak is under a black light. It's that time of the year when we all turn on our car air conditioning system on the first 80 degree day, it's not something we've thought about for the last 8 months and we remember it was cold the last time we used it and now it's not. No one wants to be in a hot car with no air conditioning or running around with the windows down with all the pollen in the air. It could be as simple as the refrigerant in your air conditioning system is low and it just needs a recharge, or you could have a component that went out sometime over the winter. The easiest way to know what happened is to schedule an appointment to have your air conditioning system tested. One other detail that most people don't realize is that the air conditioning compressor also turns off and on all winter when you're using your defroster, so it really works all year long.
