My car is making a clicking noise – why? Your car could be making a clicking noise for a variety of reasons. Our first question to you is when does it make the clicking noise? We had one vehicle in the shop recently that when they tried to switch from the heater to the air conditioning it would make a clicking noise. We found the noise was due to the heater mode door failing. The heater mode door switches from heat to air conditioning. When you turn your heater or air conditioning down it also blends the air to your desired temperature. Over time the gear on the door gets worn out and stops allowing the door to work properly. We replaced the heater mode door and the clicking went away. They were able to use all the functions for heating and air conditioning in the vehicle. Give us a call and let us take care of you. Why does my car squeak when I drive? Your car may be squeaking while you are driving due to a tensioner or pulley starting to fail. If the bearing inside your serpentine belt tensioner assembly starts to fail, then it will cause a squeaking noise. If it is the bearings inside of your serpentine belt tensioner then it will progressively get louder and eventually, the bearing will fail. Why is my car making a ticking noise? Your engine could be making a ticking noise due to a stuck lifter. When your lifter is not working properly then it will make a ticking noise. When the lifter sticks it causes the rocker arm to move freely and this will cause the noise. If the lifter does not unstick then it can cause damage to the rocker arm and other valve train components. Any time that your car starts to make a noise that is not within its normal range then it should be checked. Early detection can prevent damage to your engine and the many components. This noise could be coming from one of your wheel bearings. Over time your wheel bearings will wear out and this will cause a noise. Your wheel bearings attach your wheels to your suspension and support the weight of your vehicle. When they are worn out it can cause your wheel bearing to break and possibly an accident. Your car may be making a noise when turning due to a faulty component in your steering system. Over time the components can wear out due to age and use. When this happens one of the symptoms may be noise. Your steering may get tight or very loose too. The only way to know why your car is making noise is for us to properly diagnose the problem. The sloshing noise in your car may be you coolant being low. This will cause the noise because the cooling system if not full. The cooling system lines go from your radiator at the front of your car to the heater core that is mounted inside or under your dash. Any time that you have a leak in your cooling system then it can cause an overheating issue with your engine. If your vehicle has a power steering pump then it could be due to low fluid. When your fluid gets low the power steering pump will suck air and this will cause a noise. This will happen due to a leak in your steering system and that could be from a hose, the power steering pump or your rack in pinion or steering gear.
