Why did my temperature gauge go to the hot mark

This could be due to your thermostat sticking closed.  Your thermostat is designed to open when your engine gets to the optimal operating temperature. This allows your engine to work more efficiently and will give your engine a longer life. When your thermostat stops working it can cause your engine to overheat. Overheating your engine can cause long term damage and is hard on components.    Give us a call and let us take care of you.  541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

Your electric fan is there to pull air over your engine when sitting or when it starts to get hot. If the fan doesn't come on then it can cause your engine to overheat. This could be due to a faulty fan clutch or perhaps a blown fuse.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

My car overheated

Your car could have overheated due to a lack of coolant/antifreeze. This can happen due to a hose bursting from age or damage. Your heater and radiator hoses should be replaced every 100K to 120K miles. If you think about it if you drive the national average which I believe is close to 15,000 per year is 6 1/2 years before you need to change them. That's a lot of driving in 6 1/2 years.  When a hose bursts or leaks it will cause your engine to overheat, when this happens you need to pull over as soon as it's safe and shut off your engine. Driving while your engine is overheating will cause damage to your engine.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather
