Why is hard to shift from park to drive or reverse?

The hard shift from park to reverse on an incline is to the the excessive weight of the vehicle on the parking pawl. This can be prevented by setting the parking brake prior to shifting into park. This should be done when ever you are parking on an incline or recline. If the vehicle continues to sit on parking pawl it can cause it to break. A good habit is to just set your parking brake prior to exiting your vehicle.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

What is a transmission fluid service?

A transmission fluid service is when we take all of the fluid out of your transmission and then put in new fluid. This is an important part of your vehicles maintenance and for the life of your transmission. Depending on your vehicle and the fluid we recommend to have your transmission fluid serviced every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. We know there are places that say you never have to service your transmission fluid and we've found that when your transmission fluid is not serviced on a regular basis then you end up having transmission problems and rebuilding or replacing your transmission is much more expensive than just keeping it in good condition.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

My pickup is in limp mode and it doesn't want to shift

This could be due to either a mechanical or electrical failure inside the transmission. Sometimes it's an easy repair and other times we have to remove the transmission and it may need to be rebuilt. The only way to know is to scan the transmission module for faults and then pinpoint test the wiring. This could also be due to low fluid in the transmission which we always check first and is an easy fix.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

What happens when my transmission goes out

When your transmission goes out then your vehicle won't move. Internally it will have broken pieces that will need to be replaced. You can either have your transmission rebuilt or a re-manufactured transmission installed. We typically suggest that you have your transmission rebuilt as it can be more cost effective and we can install updated and higher grade parts.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

My transmission isn't shifting

When your transmission isn't shifting properly it will need to be seen to diagnose to determine if it is just a fluid issue or if something else has happened. The best way to prevent transmission issues is to have it serviced on a regular basis. That means fluid services every 30,000-50,000 miles. It should be serviced by a reputable shop to make sure it has the correct fluid, the wrong fluid can cause just as much damage as not having it done at all. Transmissions have gotten more complicated as technology has increased, with that the fluids are more specific.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why should I service my transmission?

Changing the fluid in your transmission is just as important as changing the oil in your engine. It does not have to be done as frequently as it takes a specialized fluids. Your transmission should be serviced every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. Servicing your transmission extends the life of your transmission and the life of your vehicle.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why isn't my car shifting?

Why isn't my car shifting?

A shifting issue with your transmission can be from low fluid, if your transmission is leaking fluid then the fluid would be low causing the transmission to not function properly due to low oil. The other reason could be an internal failure. There are also sensors that can fail or in some vehicles cables that break that could also contribute to the issue. The best way to know why it's doing what it's doing is to have it examined.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. My transmission is leaking

My transmission is leaking

The bottom of your transmission has a pan on it with a gasket, over a period of time that gasket can wear out and it will need to be replaced. It's another item that we suggest doing with maintenance. Your transmission fluid should be serviced every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. Yes I realize that there are plenty of places out there and manufactures that say you only need to change your fluid every 100,000 or it's "lifetime" fluid. To have your transmission repaired or replaced it can be expensive, and fluid services can extend the life of your transmission by 100,000+ miles if serviced on a regular schedule.  Give us a call or request an appointment online and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures, Heather
