What should I check before a road trip

What should I check before a road trip

What should I check before a road trip? I love road tripping. It so great to get out and explore. Seeing new things and exploring new places is so exciting. Oregon is a beautiful state with so many places to go see and visit. You name it and we probably have it. I still have a few places on my list that I have not visited yet and I was born here. My list includes the tree houses in southern Oregon and Wallowa Lake near Joseph. Before embarking on any trip no matter if it is just a day trip to the beach or true adventure you should make sure you have all the items on your list checked off. It is best to have this list gone through the week or so before you trip to make sure you are ready. Check your tires. You need to check for a bulge, tire wear or other damage. Tire pressure. Nothing ruins a good start than a flat tire or needing a new tire. Check your oil. If you are almost due for an oil change you might as well get it done so it is one less thing to worry about. Are you traveling this year? 2020 has been a hard year for sure and we know it's been hard to be so isolated from friends and family. Comfortable Clothes 4. Water 5. Snacks 6. Emergency supplies 7. Games 8. Music playlist 9. Headphones/earbuds 10. Summer Travel 2020

This year travel looks a bit different than it has in the past. Instead of being carefree it's a bit more cautious. We know what is happening in the world is strange and scary, we've also changed many of our plans for the summer. Here are a few tips to get you back on the road and enjoying yourself despite COVID. 1. Plan ahead - I know over planning can ruin a perfectly good road trip, but in this case it's a good thing. Plan your stops ahead of time. 2. Pack snacks - no brainer right, well my kids favorite thing to do is to grab a snack when we stop for fuel. Instead I pack snacks ahead of time and this prevents them from being exposed to other people 3. Pack a cooler - this goes along with #2, planning ahead and packing a cooler prevents you from getting out of the car more than necessary. 4. Go on a weekday - this very well could be a no go, it is for us, but if you can get away on a week day then it's the best time to go, less people means less exposure.  ... read more

Travel Plans part 3

For the rest of the year traveling will be a bit weird compared to what we are use to. Hopefully the campgrounds, beaches, lakes, rivers and parks will open up and we will get to enjoy the spring and summer. For those who are going to be out and about you should think about getting your vehicle serviced now for your upcoming trip, nothing like leaving it to the last moment and then being delayed due to other issues. I know that our plans have been altered and we are hopeful to still do a little fishing this summer and maybe we can go camping if it works out. When you're ready give us a call and let us make sure you're ready to go.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Holiday Travel Tips 2019 Edition

Merry Christmas and Happy 2020!! The next year brings huge changes to my family as our oldest son will be graduating from high school and moving onto college. He's unsure of where that might be, he could stay home (which I wouldn't mind) but he is also talking about going away....so we're just waiting on that. This year though with it being his possible last year at home I'm trying to make it as special as possible. We have holiday parties planned and adventures with friends. With all that coming and going it's a good time to remember some rules and tips when traveling in the winter weather.  1. Make sure you have your phone and charger. If you break down you'll want it.  2. Water - make sure you have a bottle for each person in the car 3. Blankets - I keep a blanket in the car at all times, this time of year though I add a couple or when I know we're going on a day trip I tell the boys to grab one.  4. Emergency kit - they're so small ... read more

Holiday Travels

Jason and I have always agreed that each holiday should be celebrated before we start talking about the next one. That doesn't mean I'm not thinking about the when, how, and what, it just means I don't talk to him about it. This year Thanksgiving feels really late and then the next thing you know Christmas is here and then we're talking about the new year. I know this year we have a lot of holiday traveling planned, so I am planning now when I need to get my car in for it's next service. I don't want to have to worry about getting it in at the last minute. Now is the time to start thinking about it, to schedule your appointment, and to make sure you're ready for anything.  Just as a note, we are closed on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. We like to give everyone a little more time with family and friends. We are also closing at noon on Christmas Eve and we are closed Christmas Day. We hope you all have a fantastic holiday season and that you enjoy every ... read more
