This could be due to your thermostat sticking closed.  Your thermostat is designed to open when your engine gets to the optimal operating temperature. This allows your engine to work more efficiently and will give your engine a longer life. When your thermostat stops working it can cause your engine to overheat. When you turn the key and your vehicle doesn't start then it could be from multiple reasons. The most common reason is that your starter has failed. This will happen just because it is worn out or from an internal failure. If your car is overheating then you may have an issue with your cooling fans. Your cooling fans come on when your engine needs to be cooled down, if they're not coming on it can cause an overheating issue. Many times you won't realize you have a cooling fan issue when you're driving since the wind will help to cool your engine down. I am so sorry, this is typically what we call a bad day. This can happen for so many reasons. One of the most common reasons that we see is the timing belt breaks. Your timing belt should be serviced every 60,000 to 90,000 miles. This depends on your engine and the driving that you do. When your timing belt breaks it can damage your internal engine parts. Your diesel could have a lack of power if your turbo is not working properly. This could be due to the internal components of your turbo failing. If the veins of the turbo are sticking or stuck closed, then it will cause a low boost issue and then that will cause a lack of power. There are other components in the turbo that will also cause a lack of power. The oil can light on your dash is for your oil pressure. This light will come on when you have an issue with your oil pressure. This is one of those times that you should not keep driving and pull over as soon as it is safe too. The light could be on due to a faulty sensor but it comes on more times because of low oil pressure and this can be due to not enough oil or to much oil in your engine. It can also be due to the oil pump not pumping the correct amount of oil into your engine. When your engine gets to hot it can cause the computer to shut down your engine to prevent damage. Your engine can overheat due to low coolant or from a cooling component not functioning properly. When your car shakes on start up this can be a symptom of a worn out or broken motor mount. This can cause the engine to shake or vibrate when you start your car. Your engine mounts are made of rubber and over time they will wear out and become brittle.
