When should I replace my tires?

When should I replace my tires?

Your tires have wear bars on them and they should be replaced when you get to the wear bars. At that point they do not have enough tread left to displace water and could cause you to hydroplane on water.  If you're unsure if your car is ready for tires stop by and we will check them for you and let you know if you're due. I would also suggest an alignment whenever you get new tires. It's protection on the investment you made on your car.  Happy Adventures, Heather

When should I change my differential fluid?

When should I change my differential fluid?

The fluid in your front and rear differentials is a specific gear oil and should be changed every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. The range really depends on how heavy your vehicle is and if and/or how much you tow with your vehicle. The first service should be somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 miles. When the gears are new they give off more metal.  Servicing the fluids in your vehicle more often is never a bad thing. The fluid does break down over time and a fluid service is usually good insurance for the gear and drivetrain of your vehicle to last for years to come.  Give us a call or request an appointment online and we will make sure you're ready for all your travels. Why should I change my spark plugs?

Spark plugs should be changed every 30K to 90K depending on the type and your engine. How often should I change my brakes?

How often should I change my brakes?

Your vehicle can have two types of brakes one are disc brakes and the other are drum brakes. The drums will always be in the rear of the vehicle and the disc can be in the front and or rear also depending on the make and model.  Front and rear disc brake pads should be changed will they are between 2-3 mm of material left. For brakes shoes they should be changed at 2 mm. As for how often that just depends on the type of driving you do and where you're driving. If you drive the freeway then your brakes will probably last longer than if you drive in town all day. If you're towing and going through the mountains expect to change your brakes more frequently.  We do free brake inspections so stop by and we will make sure you're safe on all your adventures.  Happy Adventures, Heather

My brakes are making noise

My brakes are making noise

---This brake pad fell off. The caliper was seized and caused the pad to wear prematurely and damaged the rotor---  If your brakes are making a noise then it would be best to have them checked as soon as possible. I would honestly say that stopping and steering are the two most important parts to the car. They keep you safe and everyone safe around you.  If you are hearing noise when you're braking have it checked out immediately. It could be a rock or it could mean it's time to replace your brakes. We do free brake inspections, give us a call or stop by and we will check them for you.  Happy Adventures, Heather

My car won't turn over

My car won't turn over

If your car won't turn over it could be an issue with the electrical system. The best thing would be to have it towed to the shop where we can take a look at it and get you back to where you want to be. A break down is never fun and it's even worse when you have places you need to be. We can take you home or to work and then when your car is ready we can pick you up and bring you back to the shop.  Give us a call or schedule an appointment online.  541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why does my battery die so fast?

Batteries have all have a life span, most automotive batteries will last between 5 to 6 years without replacement. There is of course always an exception to the rule. If your battery has been drained aka lights have been left on or your alternator has caused an issue then it can dramatically shorten the life of your battery and if may have to be replaced sooner rather than later. Also if you don't drive often it can cause your battery to discharge and it can also shorten the life. You could also have an issue with the charging system in your car. If the alternator is not working properly and it's not charging your battery like it should then it could cause it to die also.  We do free electrical checks, stop by and we will check your electrical system on your vehicle. That includes the battery, alternator and the starter.  Happy Adventures, Heather

Why is my brake fluid low?

Why is my brake fluid low?

Your brake fluid could be low indicating that you need to replace the front or rear or both brake pads or shoes. It could also mean that you have a leak some where. If you do have a leak then getting it checked and fixed is important since stopping is one of those things that is really important. Along with changing your brake pads when they are due. Give us a call and we will do a free brake inspection for you.  Happy Adventures, Heather
