What do you need for your travels?

If you have been in Oregon for a bit you know how amazingly beautiful our state is and all that it has to offer. From the beautiful beaches to our high dessert and then the Cascades and all the fun that can be had.

Whether your adventures are more tame or on the wild side - or somewhere in between - you need to be prepared on all of your adventures.

Jason and I tend to be on the adventurous nature and we have had more than one time we have been stuck on the pass because of an accident in front of us or a storm that was worse than predicted. We have a starter winter preparedness kit for you to make sure you are safe on all your journeys.

Our kit includes:

- Flashlight

- Emergency blanket

- Handwarmers

- Snacks

- Water

and a few more things....

We have a few tips to make sure you're ready for all your late fall and winter travels.

Essential Winter Driving Tips

Check Your Vehicle:

  • Winter Tires: Ensure your tires are in good condition and have adequate tread depth for winter driving. Consider investing in snow tires for optimal performance.
  • Battery: A weak battery can leave you stranded in the cold. Have it checked by a professional before winter hits.
  • Windshield Wipers and Washer Fluid: Keep your windshield clear with high-quality wiper blades and winter-grade washer fluid.

Emergency Kit: Assemble a comprehensive emergency kit that includes:

  • Jumper cables
  • Flashlight
  • Warm blankets
  • Non-perishable snacks
  • Water
  • First-aid kit
  • Road flares or reflective triangles
  • Tire chains (if necessary)

Plan Your Route:

  • Check Road Conditions: Before you hit the road, check real-time road conditions and weather forecasts. Trip check is a great resource for any traveler. https://www.tripcheck.com/
  • Inform Someone of Your Plans: Let a friend or family member know your itinerary and expected arrival time.

Drive Safely:

  • Slow Down: Reduce your speed, especially on icy or snowy roads.
  • Increase Following Distance: Maintain a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.
  • Avoid Sudden Maneuvers: Brake gently and avoid sudden stops or turns.
  • Use Headlights: Even during the day, turn on your headlights to increase visibility.

Give us a call and let us take care of you.

Happy Adventures,

Heather
