Your diesel engine may have had a block heater installed at the factory, if not then it's a good idea to have one installed if you live in cooler climates. It can help extend the life of many of your engine componets including the starting system. It helps to keep the oil warmer, so it can easily lubricate the internal componets quicker along with shortening warm up time saving fuel and gets you where you want to be sooner.
