My check engine light is on and my car is shaking and wants to die.

If your car has these symptoms then it needs to be checked out. You could have an engine misfire and that is what caused the check engine light to come on. It would also explain the shaking and your car wanting to die. We would need to diagnose why the check engine light is on and what is causing the shaking. The misfire could be from spark plugs or injectors.
