What does a glow plug do?

Posted on 10/8/2019

Glow plugs aide in the starting of a cold diesel engine. Over time they can be less effective and as they age it can lead to an increase of starting time and a possible no start condition. Glow plugs are not like spark plugs they do not need to be changed by mileage. You will know they need to be changed when you have a long crank time, rough running at an idle or a check engine light. We do advise for them to all be changed at the same time to save you time and money.
