What is an ECM?

Your ECM is your engine control module. To put it simply your ECM is the brain of your vehicle. Your ECM is made up of hundreds of smaller modules. All the modules in your vehicle are connected and work together. When one is not functioning properly it can cause other modules to not function correctly when they are not receiving the correct information.

This can cause a run-ability issue. When your check engine light comes it indicates that one of those modules is not functioning properly. To know which module needs to be tested we need to perform an engine diagnostic. After an engine diagnostic is performed, we will know why your light is on and how we need to proceed.
