The battery light on your dash indicates that your electrical system is not working properly. This can be due to the alternator failing or an issue with your battery cables or terminals. This is something that should not be ignored, if you are only running on your battery and your alternator is not charging properly then it can cause your vehicle to die and it can leave you stranded.
