A wheel bearing attaches the wheel hub to the suspension knuckle - in the front - or rear axle - in the rear - this is what allows your wheels carry you down the road.
When your wheel bearing goes bad it could make noise or have excessive movement in the wheel hub. This can make your vehicle less stable and an extreme cases it can damage your brakes or your wheel could fall off. Either way this is not a repair that should be postponed.
