This most likely a catastrophic failure

The oil pan can break due to an internal connecting rod bearing failure that eventually caused the connecting rod to break. When this happens the broken connecting rod often damages everything around it such as the oil pan and even the engine block. This can happen due to low oil levels for an extended period of time, wrong type of oil, and low oil pressure. Checking your oil level regularly is important for the care of your engine. When this happens your engine will need to be rebuilt or replaced.
If you don't know how to check your engine oil we would be happy to show you. Questions?
