It's important to keep you safe.

Do you know what happens when you press your car’s brake pedal? It’s not just a mechanical cable pulling a lever—it relies entirely on a brake fluid. This fluid is specific to your braking and if you drive a manual your clutch system. Your brake fluid works as a messenger to your braking system. When you push down on the brake pedal, it creates pressure. The brake fluid pushes that pressure through the brake lines down to the wheels. This pressure then activates the brake calipers to squeeze the brake pads onto the brake rotors so you can stop safely. Without clean, properly working fluid, your car may not be as responsive and not stop as quickly when you need it to.
Brake fluid has a tough job, and over time, two major things happen to it:
- It absorbs moisture: Brake fluid naturally draws in moisture from the air over time. Water lowers the boiling point of the fluid. When your brakes get hot from normal use, that water can turn into tiny steam pockets, making your pedal feel soft or "spongy."
- It gets dirty: As the fluid ages, it collects tiny bits of debris, rubber, and metal from inside the system. Dirty fluid can wear out expensive components like your brake master cylinder or calipers early.
If you notice any of these warning signs, your brake system is trying to tell you something:
- Your brake pedal feels unusually soft, mushy, or sinks all the way to the floor.
- It takes longer or requires more physical effort to come to a complete stop.
- The brake warning light pops up on your dashboard.
Taking good care of your brake system doesn't just keep you safe on the road—it saves you money by preventing minor wear from turning into major repairs. We recommend having your fluid tested for moisture and clarity during your regular maintenance visits.
