They keep you moving
Your serpentine and drive belts do more than you think they do. They keep your alternator charging, your water pump functioning, your power steering pump working and your a/c compressor keeping you cool. When your belt is worn then it can start to slip and this slippage can cause damage to the other components. The first indication that your belt needs to be replaced will be the small cracks that you see in the picture above. It may not seem like they are a big deal but those cracks can lead to the belt losing large pieces of material and for the belt to break. If your belt breaks then it is most likely leaving you on the side of the road. A bit of preventive maintenance can save you a lot of issues.
