Fuel contamination is a problem that can sneak up on any vehicle owner, but it’s especially important to be aware of it if you drive a Ford pickup. Whether you’re hitting the road for work or adventure, you want to make sure your truck is running smoothly. Fuel contamination happens when unwanted substances get into your fuel tank. These contaminants can include water, dirt, rust, and even tiny particles of debris. When these things mix with your fuel, they can cause a variety of problems for your engine and overall performance. Your Ford pickup’s engine is designed to run on clean fuel, so when contaminants get in, it can lead to several issues: Poor Performance: Contaminated fuel can clog your fuel filters and injectors, making it harder for your engine to get the fuel it needs. This can result in rough idling, stalling, or sluggish acceleration. Reduced Fuel Efficiency: When your engine isn’t getting the right amount of clean fuel, it has to work har ... read more

Your vent valve on your fuel tank might be plugged. The vent valve allows air to escape from your fuel tank while capturing fuel vapors in your charcoal canister while you are filling your fuel tank. If your charcoal canister deteriorates and allows charcoal to get into your vent valve this can cause your check engine light to come on and for it to be harder to fill up your tank. It could be hard to fill your gas tank due to the modern design of the cap-less gas tank fill port. This could be due to dirt and debris can get into your fuel filler neck assembly. This is supposed to seal your fuel tank when you remove the gas filler nozzle. If it does not seal when it closes it can cause a check engine light and possibly fuel contamination. If your car won't run then it could be due to a faulty fuel pump. Most of the time your fuel pump is an electrical component and over time it will wear out and need to be replaced. This isn't typically something that can be detected prior to the fuel pump failing. A tip to help your fuel pump last longer keep your fuel tank over 1/4 tank. When your tank has less than 1/4 then it can cause your fuel pump to suck air and it can shorten the lifespan. Give us a call and let us take care of you. Happy Adventures, Heather

Your fuel gauge is one of those things that I deem important. I wouldn't want to run out of fuel when driving down the highway because I didn't know how much was in my tank. Your vehicle has a fuel level sending unit that tells the fuel gauge how much fuel is in your tank. If this stops working then your fuel gauge will also stop working. The fuel level sending until will need to be replaced to make your fuel gauge start working again. Give us a call and let us take care of you. Happy Adventures, Heather
