My low coolant light is coming on

Many cars are now equipped with a sensor in the coolant overflow tank to monitor the cooling system level. This sensor monitors the level of coolant in your vehicle. This has been a helpful addition to keep your engine full of the fluids that it depends on. When your engine is low on coolant then it can overheat which can damage the internal components and shorten the lifespan of your engine. If this light comes on you should pull over and check to make sure you're full of coolant, if you are low you should have it checked for leaks as soon as you can. If your vehicle starts to overheat then you should pull over and turn it off.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why is my car leaking coolant?

Anytime your vehicle is leaking any fluid it needs to be addressed. The fluids are like your blood it keeps your vehicle going. There are a few places that your coolant can leak from including your hoses, radiator, heater core, water pump and thermostat. It also flows through your engine to keep it cool. If any of these are leaking they can cause a breakdown if they are not repaired.  Give us a call and let us take care of you 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

Coolant - what it is and why you need it.

Coolant - what it is and why you need it.

The coolant or antifreeze that your vehicle uses depends on the year, make, model and engine of your vehicle. The purpose of coolant/antifreeze is to keep the engine cool under harsh operating conditions and also prevents damage in extreme cold conditions.  It also provides anti corrosion protection due to the many different types of metals that your engine is made up of.  Water is not coolant and should not be used as such. It should ONLY be used in emergency situations until you can get more coolant/antifreeze in your car.  Happy Adventures, Heather
