Your coolant could be low due to a leak in one of your radiator hoses. Your radiator hoses should be replaced every 50,000 to 100,000 miles. This of course depends on where you drive and how you drive. Your radiator hoses are made of rubber and over time it starts to degrade and break down. If your hoses start to leak it can cause your coolant to be low and then your engine can overheat causing a whole new set of issues. A little maintenance can go a long way.
