Diesel engine block heater

Diesel engine block heater

Your diesel engine may have had a block heater installed at the factory, if not then it's a good idea to have one installed if you live in cooler climates. It can help extend the life of many of your engine componets including the starting system. It helps to keep the oil warmer, so it can easily lubricate the internal componets quicker along with shortening warm up time saving fuel and gets you where you want to be sooner.  Give us a call at 541-791-2886 or request an appointment online. What is better snow tires or chains?

What is better snow tires or chains?

That depends on where you live and how much driving you do, even if you have snow tires in certain situations you're still going to need to put chains on. As for snow tires unless you live in an area that has consistent ice you would be fine with stud less snow tires instead of studded tires.  If you have questions about the correct tires for your vehicle give us a call at 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why does my diesel losing power?

Why does my diesel losing power?

Your diesel could be losing power from a plugged fuel filter and/or from bad fuel. Your fuel filter should be changed every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. If you're unsure of the quality of the fuel you're getting then it's better to change it more often.  If you're having issues with lack of power with your diesel give us a call at 541-791-2886 and we'll get you back on the road again. Why does my car misfire?

Why does my car misfire?

If your car has a misfire it is most likely due to the fact the spark plugs are worn out and are due for replacement. Most cars and pickups need a tune up between 30,000 and 90,000 miles and that all depends on the engine that is in your vehicle. If it's been a while since your car has had it's spark plugs changed, give us a call and we'll check to make sure there isn't something else going on.  Give us a call at 541-791-2886 or request an appointment online. Happy Birthday Jason!!

Today is Jason's birthday, and with such I thought you may want to know a little more him.  He was born and raised here in the valley, we are high school sweethearts - we met in 1995 and we were married in 1999. He attended LBCC to get his degree in automotive and started his career in June of 1999. He worked for a shop in Corvallis until July 2005 when we opened J & H Automotive in Tangent and we've been here ever since.  He's a dedicated husband, father, friend, and boss. Happy Birthday!! Why does my diesel need DEF?

DEF is urea that helps clean the exhaust before it's released from your vehicle. DEF stands for diesel exhaust fluid just in case you were wondering. If your vehicle has the system on it, then it's required for the engine to run correctly. There is a difference between the three systems and the type of fluid so if you're refilling it on your own just make sure you have the right stuff for it.  2012 was the last year that it wasn't federally mandated that you had to have a DEF system on your diesel vehicle. Ford and Chevy both went to the DEF systems before it was mandated and Dodge switched in 2013.  If you have questions give us a call at 541-791-2886 and we would be happy to help out.  Happy Adventures, Heather

Taking care of you

There are times when people describe the sound that there vehicle is making and I cringe thinking it could be the engine or transmission that have had a catastrophic failure. We've seen it, it's happened. My favorite is when it's not that at all and it's simple. We want to keep people going on whatever adventure awaits them today. Whether they're headed to work, home, vacation or any where in between, we just want you to get to your destination safe and sound, with little worry about your vehicle and it's ability to get you to where you want to be.  The next time your car is due for service or if you're in need a repair give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

My axle boot is torn, why should I replace it?

Your axles have rubber boots on them and over time with any piece of rubber it deteriorates and the boot will crack and tear. When this happens it's time to replace your axle. Unfortunately the boot it's self is not replaceable typically because once the boot is torn dirt and debris can get into the grease causing damage to the internal parts of your axle. It can also cause noise and after a period of time all of the grease will come out and the axle will break.  If you have front end noise give us a call or request an appointment online and we will get you back on the road.  Happy Adventures, Heather
