It's happened to me and it's one of the worst feelings ever when your car stops running while you're driving down the road. I expect my car to get me from point A to point B and when it doesn't it's not a great feeling. Some of this can be prevented with regular maintenance and some of it is just unexpected. The last time it happened to me my fuel pump died while I was headed home. This isn't something that you can plan ahead like a tune up or timing belt or even fluid services, this is just a breakdown. Fortunately fuel pumps do not go out often and they last for many years. I replaced the one in my current vehicle when it had over 200K miles on it. When your fuel pump stops working, your car will die and will not start. You can turn the key but nothing will happen. When your check engine light comes on it will disable other functions in your vehicle including the cruise control. It does this as a safety feature. Happy Monday!! If your car is idling rough it could be from low oil. Modern engines use the oil to control valve timing. If your oil is low then you can get air in the system causing a rough idle. Warm weather has shown up and I'm sure I am not the only one who's A/C isn't working as well as it should. It's always on the hottest day that it stops working right. Or your in an area that rolling down the windows is just not a good idea....like a cloud of mosquitoes. Either way the only way to know what's wrong with your A/C is to have it tested for leaks. Happy Wednesday! It's a short week with Monday being a holiday and I know it's thrown me for a loop like it always does. Yesterday was two days in one and today thankfully is just Wednesday.  If your car is smoking then it could be from a couple of different sources. One you could have oil leaking onto your exhaust that is causing the smoke to happen, other could be steam that looks like smoke coming from your cooling system. Hi! We hope you're doing well and enjoying the beautiful weather. We are looking forward to summer and all the fun that involves. At least it will mean more time outside in the yard working on our tans.  If your air conditioner is blowing cold while driving and then hot when at a stop it could be due to low refrigerant in the system. This can be fixed by having your air conditioning system serviced. They could have failed due to an issue with an o-ring or the injector could be plugged. Has your vehicle been sitting for a while? If so then now is the time to get a checkup before you start driving again. Sitting for long periods of time is hard on your vehicle. The gaskets, seals can harden after sitting for long periods of time, when this happens it can cause oil leaks. Your battery it typically maintained when you drive daily and if that isn't happening then it can cause your battery to be weak and could lead to a no start condition.
