Typically if you have an exhaust leak in your engine compartment then it is from your exhaust manifold. Over time the bolts get weak and they can break. When this happens it allows the exhaust to escape from the manifold and it can cause issues with your engine. If you think your vehicle has an exhaust leak give us a call at 541-791-2886 or request an appointment online at jhautomotiveinc.com/appointments Happy Adventures Heather

It could be your glow plugs that are causing the problem. They do wear out over a period of time and need to be replaced. Unfortunately they do not have a maintenance interval and so it is solely dependent on how they are functioning. We do recommend that when you replace your glow plugs to have all of them replaced. If your diesel engine is having issues starting give us a call at 541-791-2886 or request an appointment online and let us take care of you. Happy Adventures, Heather

Like all things car batteries do have life cycle and typically a good quality battery will last 5-6 years. That's a lot of starting, headlights, heating/air conditioning, and singing along to the radio. When you live in cold climates where it is consistently freezing that can decrease the life of your battery and the same goes for if you live in very warm areas. If you're concerned about your battery, stop by we do free electrical and battery checks. Happy Adventures, Heather

Your diesel engine may have had a block heater installed at the factory, if not then it's a good idea to have one installed if you live in cooler climates. It can help extend the life of many of your engine componets including the starting system. It helps to keep the oil warmer, so it can easily lubricate the internal componets quicker along with shortening warm up time saving fuel and gets you where you want to be sooner. That depends on where you live and how much driving you do, even if you have snow tires in certain situations you're still going to need to put chains on. As for snow tires unless you live in an area that has consistent ice you would be fine with stud less snow tires instead of studded tires. If you have questions about the correct tires for your vehicle give us a call at 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures, Heather

Your diesel could be losing power from a plugged fuel filter and/or from bad fuel. Your fuel filter should be changed every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. If you're unsure of the quality of the fuel you're getting then it's better to change it more often. If you're having issues with lack of power with your diesel give us a call at 541-791-2886 and we'll get you back on the road again. Happy Adventures, Heather
