17 years serving you

Our 17th Anniversary We want to take a moment to stop and thank you for letting us into your lives and letting us take care of you. When we opened the shop on July 5th, 2005, we never imagined all the amazing people we would meet. The ones who would become lifelong friends and the wonderful employees that we have worked with us each day. The road has not always been smooth, and we’ve had some hard lessons. We have taken those to heart and learned and grown with each one. We started off with just Jason and a dream. The boys were just little and now here we are 17 years later. Conner – our oldest – is now out of college and working at the shop. He wants to continue the legacy and run the shop in the future.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to take care of you and for trusting us with everything that is important to you. Happy Adventures, Heather

Why does my a/c only blow on high?

If your air conditioning is only blowing on high then it could be due to a faulty blower motor resistor. The blower motor resistor could go out due to a terminal getting burnt due to the blower motor drawing too much current. When the blower motor is drawing too much current it will overload the circuits on the resistor. This will cause them to burn out and stop working. Give us a call and let us take care of you.   Happy Adventures, Heather   Our specials can be found here - Specials - J & H Automotive, Inc Ready to make an appointment … Appointments - J & H Automotive, Inc Want to know more … About Us - J & H Automotive, Inc Would you like to join our merry band of m ... read more

Why is my check engine light blinking?

Why is my check engine light blinking? Your check engine light may be blinking due to a worn-out or faulty spark plug. When your check engine light is on and blinking it indicates that your engine has a catalyst damaging misfire. It can be caused by other issues other than your spark plugs. We would need to perform an engine diagnostic to know for sure that it is your spark plug and not a different component. We do promote replacing random parts to find out what is wrong. We prefer to know which part has failed and replace the correct part the first time. This saves you both time and money. Give us a call and let us take care of you. Why does my air conditioning smell musty?

Your air conditioning may smell musty due to condensation that builds up on the cold components inside of your dash. These cold components can collect dust out of the air. Over time the dust will build up, and combined with the moisture this will cause a musty smell. This musty smell is coming from mold and mildew from the dust. One way to prevent this from happening is to always run your air conditioning on recirculate. This will prevent the dust from entering the cab of your vehicle. We also recommend having your cabin air filter changed. Your cabin air filter collects the spores, pollen, and dirt from the air in your cab. Give us a call and let us take care of you. Why do I need a check engine light diagnostic performed?

You will need to have a proper diagnosis performed on your vehicle when this light appears on your vehicle's dashboard.  Today's vehicles have complex systems that can set your check engine light off for various reasons. The problem could be simple or extreme depending upon the codes that are stored in your car or pickup's computer. The situation could become drastically worse if the check engine light is flashing. In this instance, it is not a good idea to drive the vehicle. Having a proper check engine light diagnostic performed by a qualified mechanic could save you a lot of time and aggravation. Give us a call and let us take care of you. Is your diesel summer road trip ready?

Who loves a good road trip? I know I do. When you are traveling you want your vehicle operating at its full potential. Here are a few things to keep your vehicle running properly. Changing the fuel filter will help your fuel mileage. When your fuel filter is clogged it does not allow fuel to flow properly. This will cause your engine to produce less power. Your charge air cooler boots should be checked for a boost leak. If you have a boost leak this will cause your turbocharger to struggle. This will make your engine consume more fuel and not run properly. Cooling system fluid service – poor quality coolant can cause damage to your engine’s internal components from corrosion or cavitation.   Checking your engine air filter – if your engine air filter is dirty or clogged it restricts airflow. That restriction is hard on your engine and turbocharger. A diesel loves a clean air filter. Rear differential fluid service – especially when towing your rear dif ... read more

Why is it hard to fill my tank with gas?

Your vent valve on your fuel tank might be plugged. The vent valve allows air to escape from your fuel tank while capturing fuel vapors in your charcoal canister while you are filling your fuel tank. If your charcoal canister deteriorates and allows charcoal to get into your vent valve this can cause your check engine light to come on and for it to be harder to fill up your tank.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.
