Back to school for your car

It's hard to believe that summer is almost over. By the calendar we have about a month of summer left, but really once the kids go back to school that's really the end of it. We'll hopefully have a few more weekends to go do something, but homework and sports are now taking up most of the time that we have. My car just got in for an oil change and inspection and I'm glad it did as I have a few things that will need to be fixed prior to all the running around that happens when the boys start having games again. Are you ready? Is your car? We both know the answer to #1 yes we're ready for the kids to go back to school, no we're not ready for the crazy that is the fall sports season. On #2 I'm not so sure. I know my car is, but is yours? If you're not sure either then now is the perfect time to schedule your car for it's back to school service.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

My car has a puddle under it

Depending on where your puddle is it could be nothing, or it could be a leak from your engine or transmission. When using your air conditioning, the evaporator core inside your dash gets really cold and it can freeze causing ice to build up on the core. When you stop, it will warm up and as it thaws the water will drain out the bottom of the box. This drain is typically on the passenger side of your car and it will leave a water puddle under your car. If at any time you are concerned it could be something else, please don't hesitate to stop by and we will make sure you're safe on all your adventures.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

When I turn my car it make a noise

If you're hearing a noise when turning then you may have a suspension issue. It could be a shock or strut that the mounting plate is worn and it could need to be replaced. The best way to know for sure is to have it properly diagnosed to make sure you're safe on all your adventures. Shocks and struts are not only part of your suspension but they also affect your stopping ability.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why is my car burning oil?

Your car could be burning oil due to a dirty air filter. When your air filter is dirty it restricts air flow into the engine and that will cause the engine it to pull to much air from the crankcase and can cause it to start burning oil. We recommend to replace your air filter whenever it's dirty and depending on where you live, the type of driving that you do and where you adventure to that could be at each oil change, or just once a year.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures, Heather

My car smells like rotten eggs

Rotten eggs is a scent that no one likes, and when your car smells like it that's even worse. It's a sulfur smell that is coming from your exhaust system. Sulfur is a natural component of gasoline and when refined it is typically decreased and so it's not as noticeable. This can be cured by purchasing your gasoline from a different station.  Please give us a call if you have any questions.  Happy Adventures, Heather

When I press on the brake it makes a grinding noise and I can't stop

Anytime that your car is making noise when braking it needs to be inspected. If you're not able to stop when braking then you need to have your car towed to have it inspected. We do free brake inspections, just give us a call and we will schedule you an appointment for us to take a look at it, most of the time the same day.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

My radiator is leaking

If your radiator is leaking then it needs to be replaced. Your radiator is make of fins and tubes that the air gets passed through and cools the coolant in the tanks that are inside the radiator. The tanks are made of plastic so after a period of time they can become old and brittle. If your radiator hoses have not been replaced within the last 5 years we will typically suggest those also be replaced due to age and mileage.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

When I turn my car off it makes a bubbling noise

Anytime that your car is making a noise that isn't "normal" it should be examined. It could be something super simple or it could be a more serious. A bubbling noise can come from either your engine or your radiator so it should be diagnosed and tested.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

How much can I tow with my F150

The tow rating should be on the inside of your driver's door, although sometimes all those numbers can be confusing and it's hard to know what they all mean. For your F-150 the tow rating is 5,000lbs to 8,000lbs depending on the package of your pickup. You should refer to your owners manual for all the specifics and if you have questions you're welcome to stop by and we will do our best to answer those for you.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather
