Did you know? Brake Materials

At one time there were only a couple of options for brake pad material. Now there are many types and they are very application specific.  Semi-Metallic : These are typically used for heavier applications. For heavier vehicles and specifically for vehicles that two. They are also used in high performance vehicles where high grip is more important than the life of your brake rotor.  Ceramic : This is becoming the most common type of brake pad material. These are used primarily on passenger cars and mini-vans. They provide good stopping power with less dust and noise. They typically have a longer life span and do not wear down brake rotors as quickly.  Carbon Ceramic : These are typically used on high performance exotic sports cars. These provide unparalleled braking performance. These components are more expensive than traditional braking components.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. Also if you have questions about what type of brakes your vehicle ... read more

How do I get a new key for my car?

Many times when purchasing a new car either brand new or new to you it may only come with 1 key. This can be problematic if you have more than one driver in your house or if you happen to lock your keys in your car. Yes we can get you a new key. Almost all keys now have a computer chip in them, so they will need to be programed before use. Depending on who manufactured your vehicle it could be simple to replace your key or sometimes they do try to make it a bit more complicated. For instance if you have a Mercedes and you would like an additional key then you will need to produce your title or copy of registration and a copy of your drivers's license. This is to make sure that no one else is trying to steal your vehicle. Either way we can get you a new key and get you back to where you want to be.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

What is a transmission fluid service?

A transmission fluid service is when we take all of the fluid out of your transmission and then put in new fluid. This is an important part of your vehicles maintenance and for the life of your transmission. Depending on your vehicle and the fluid we recommend to have your transmission fluid serviced every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. We know there are places that say you never have to service your transmission fluid and we've found that when your transmission fluid is not serviced on a regular basis then you end up having transmission problems and rebuilding or replacing your transmission is much more expensive than just keeping it in good condition.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

When I turn my key nothing happens

This could be from either a bad electrical component or a bad battery. Unfortunately until it's checked out we won't know for sure. Even if your battery is new it could still have an issue. It doesn't happen often but sometimes a "cell" inside the the battery will go bad and the battery will need to be replaced. We install Interstate batteries. Our batteries have a 24 to 30 month free replacement, after that we can pro-rate you the balance for 5 to 6 years.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Did you know? Transmission fluids

Once upon a time there were only a couple types of transmission fluid. Now there are more than you can imagine. Transmissions have changed they went from very basic to computer controlled and high tech. These transmissions if the wrong type of fluid is put into them can cause damage and possible failure. With some of today's modern transmissions this can become an expensive mistake very quickly. Your owners manual may have the correct specification for your transmission, but not always. If you're not sure please give us a call and we would be happy to help you out.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

My pickup is running rough and when stopped it dies

This could be as simple as a bad spark plug that is causing a misfire and low to no power, or it could be something a bit more complicated that needs diagnosed and pinpoint tested. There are many components that can all cause this symptom. The best way to know is to make an appointment and have us take a look at it.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures, Heather

Running poorly

My pickup is in limp mode and it doesn't want to shift

This could be due to either a mechanical or electrical failure inside the transmission. Sometimes it's an easy repair and other times we have to remove the transmission and it may need to be rebuilt. The only way to know is to scan the transmission module for faults and then pinpoint test the wiring. This could also be due to low fluid in the transmission which we always check first and is an easy fix.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why should I replace my water pump with my timing belt?

Your timing belt should be replaced every 60,000 to 90,000 miles and of course that depends on your specific engine. Your water pump is driven by the timing belt, so it has the same amount of wear and hours as your timing belt. It's in your best interest to replace it at the same time to prevent a breakdown or a costly repair. Plus as Jason always puts it "it's cheap insurance." Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures, Heather
