Why shouldn't I get my oil changed at a quick lube?

Why shouldn't I get my oil changed at a quick lube?

In a moments notice when you are traveling or even perhaps in an emergency that is fine. The biggest problem is that they are not all properly trained and they are not always looking out for your best interest. We had a gentleman decide to get a discounted oil change at a quick lube.  It was anything but a deal. They broke his oil pan and it had to be replaced. The person who changed his oil had no idea what they were doing and instead of a $25 oil change he got to purchase an oil pan. I know the difference was more than the extra $15 he would have spent here, and no they did not repay him for his loss of time and the repair. Yes it is oil and filter, the difference is the level of training and expertise that goes into it. Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures Heather

What is the oil can icon on the dash for?

What is the oil can icon on the dash for?

That is your engine oil pressure light, it should look like an oil pitcher and it will be red. If that ever comes on when you are driving please pull over, it can mean that your engine is low on oil and if you were to keep driving it could cause major damage to your engine. It doesn't always mean that it is low on oil or that there is an issue, but it is best to treat it that way just to be safe.  So, if you spot that light on your dash while you are driving, pull over, turn off the engine and call for a professional to help. Why does my diesel smoke?

Why does my diesel smoke?

Why does my diesel smoke? When your diesel is smoking that is typically (not always) unburnt fuel. That means that smoke is raw diesel coming out the tail pipe. When you're looking for fuel economy is not the way to go. We can make your pickup run more efficiently and still have all the hauling capabilities that you purchased it for.  Happy Adventures Heather

Why is my car overheating

Why is my car overheating

Why is my car overheating? When your car or pickup is overheating it is most likely due to low coolant or antifreeze. There of course are many other reasons for it to overheat, but that is typically the most common. It is important for your engine to have coolant in it and the correct type. If you're engine is overheating it's time to have it checked out.  Did you know we do alignments too. We do! We can take care of your vehicle top to bottom, bumper to bumper.  Happy Adventures Heather

My car is displaying a motor icon on dash

My car is displaying a motor icon on dash

We get this question a lot. The engine icon is the check engine light. It could be as simple as a faulty gas cap or it could be something serious. The best way to know is to make an appointment and we will check it for you to make sure you're safe on all your adventures.  Happy Adventures Heather

When does my car need a tune up?

When does my car need a tune up?

When does my car need a tune up? That just depends on the engine that you have in your vehicle. Some are due every 30,000 miles and others can wait until every 90K. Air filter for you and your car

Air filter for you and your car

HAir filters are important to the health of your vehicle's engine, the air that flows into the engine goes through the air filter first and when your air filter is dirty or clogged that means that your engine is being starved for air. It should be changed before it ever gets to that point to keep your vehicle running at it's best. We advise for the engine air filter to be changed based on condition. Some vehicles have a cabin air filter too, these filters are for the air that you breath in the car. We advise that your filter should be changed between 15,000 and 20,000 miles and some of that depends on the places that you go, if you smoke in your car then we advise it to be changed every 10,000 miles.  Happy Adventures Heather

Smoking and your car....

Smoking and your car....

The other day while I was in town with my youngest he saw a car and pointed it out and asked what was wrong with it. I told him it was smoking and that it looked like they had it under control as there were plenty of people around the car. He told me that it shouldn't do that it's not good for it, and I agreed immediately.   If your car is smoking you should have it looked at as soon as possible. If you're having issues give us a call and we will make sure you're safe to be out on the road.   We don't just do repairs we can take care of all your maintenance needs from oil changes, tune ups, brakes, belts, water pumps, air conditioning, alignments, suspension and more.   Happy Adventures, Heather

Check Engine Light On?

Check Engine Light On?

Your check engine light can come on for so many reasons - sometimes it's as simple as a loose gas cap and other times if not addressed can cause engine damage. The best way to know what is going on is to take it in and have it checked . It happens to all of us. The picture is of my check engine light that came on just a few weeks ago. It was for the knock sensor which is a common failure on my car. I had them replaced and now it's running beautiful again.   Give us a call and we'll make sure you keep going to where you're headed.   Happy Adventures Heather
