My car is overheating at a stop

My car is overheating at a stop

Why is my car overheating? When your vehicle overheats it can cause engine damage. An overheating issue can be caused by multiple reasons. The most common is a lack of coolant in the cooling system. When your cooling system is low on coolant then you do not have enough to circulate through all the components. This will cause your engine to overheat. Water is not the solution. Water does not have the cooling ability that your engine needs to operate at the proper temperatures. When you are in an emergency where you have no other option then yes add water. Water is better than nothing, but it needs to be drained and refilled with the proper coolant for your engine as soon as possible. How often should tires be checked?

How often should tires be checked?

Ideally you should check your tires each time before you drive your car. This could be as simple as a walk around your vehicle to make sure all your tires are properly inflated. It is a quick and easy way to make sure you are safe on your journey. A few years ago, we were headed out for the weekend. I had everything and everyone loaded in the car. We were ready to leave when Jason did the walk around and we had a low tire. We had picked up a nail at some point. We had to have it repaired before we could go. It was just a little hiccup, but I am glad we did our walk around before leaving home. It could have become a much bigger issue on the freeway. If you are concerned about your tire pressure or if you are unsure what you are looking for then just stop by or give us a call and we can help you. Give us a call and let us take care of you. How do you stop Carbon build up?

You cannot stop Carbon Build Up completely. You can help to reduce the amount of build up by using top tier fuels and premium grade engine oil. Changing your engine oil at the proper interval will help reduce Carbon Build Up. Your engine may also need an Induction Cleaning Service to help remove Carbon deposits in the intake valves and combustion chambers. This cleaning should be done on a regular basis to keep your engine in its best condition. Give us a call and let us take care of you. When do I have to take off my studded tires?

In Oregon and Washington you can put on your Studded Tires November 1st. They need to come off by March 31st. If you have Studded Tires then you know how much they help with traction in snow and ice. When conditions are not poor Studded Tires decrease traction in normal road conditions. If you are able to buy a second set of wheels with your Studded Tires. This prolongs the life of your Studded Tires by only using them when you need them. Give us a call and let us take care of you. Is it better to drive with a dirty air filter or no air filter at all?

It is better to drive with a clean Air Filter of course, but when the option is dirty or none, then a dirty Air Filter is better than nothing at all. Even though the dirty Air Filter is restricting air flow to your engine, it is still preventing debris from entering your engine. These pieces of debris can cause damage to your Piston Rings. When this happens, it can also damage your Cylinder Walls causing a lack of Compression. Best practices is to change your air filter when they are dirty to keep your engine running properly.
