Road Trip!

It's that time of year that a road trip sounds about right. This year things are a bit different that is for sure, but that doesn't mean that you can't still make a road trip and some family time happen it might just have to look a bit different and you'll need to do some extra planning.  1. Pack extra snacks - you don't want to have to make extra stops so just pack a bag full of snacks to have on hand. I always ask the boys what the favorite of the day is then get them that. I seem to come up with less issues that way.  2. Pack a cooler - the same as the snacks, go through and ask what they want to drink - it will make your life easier - now if they only pick something that is full of sugar then you decide what's best.  3. Blankets - I love a good travel blanket, it just makes it more comfortable. Maybe even a pillow if it's even a long enough drive 4. Car charger - make sure everyone has one - my boys fight when the battery starts to die ... read more

Why does my engine make a ticking noise?

Your engine is most likely making a ticking noise due to your lifters inside your engine being worn out or damaged. They could be "stuck" which will cause the noise also. To make the ticking go away then you will need to replace the lifters. This can be prevented by regular oil changes and maintenance. When you change your engine oil on a regular basis then it allows your lifters to work more efficiently and with less wear.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why did my temperature gauge go to the hot mark

This could be due to your thermostat sticking closed.  Your thermostat is designed to open when your engine gets to the optimal operating temperature. This allows your engine to work more efficiently and will give your engine a longer life. When your thermostat stops working it can cause your engine to overheat. Overheating your engine can cause long term damage and is hard on components.    Give us a call and let us take care of you.  541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

My car doesn't start when I turn the key

When you turn the key and your vehicle doesn't start then it could be from multiple reasons. The most common reason is that your starter has failed. This will happen just because it is worn out or from an internal failure. Either way your starter will need to be replaced to get you back on the road.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

My car is overheating

If your car is overheating then you may have an issue with your cooling fans. Your cooling fans come on when your engine needs to be cooled down, if they're not coming on it can cause an overheating issue. Many times you won't realize you have a cooling fan issue when you're driving since the wind will help to cool your engine down. You will typically notice this at a long stop or when idling.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why did my radiator start leaking?

Your radiator most likely started to leak due to age. The outside of your radiator is a plastic tank that is surrounded by metal. When the plastic tank gets old then it will become brittle and crack, this will cause your radiator to leak coolant. Your coolant is a vital component to your engine and if it is leaking then it will need to be replaced. Give us a call and let us take care of you. 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

I was driving and my car made a sound and died.

I am so sorry, this is typically what we call a bad day. This can happen for so many reasons. One of the most common reasons that we see is the timing belt breaks. Your timing belt should be serviced every 60,000 to 90,000 miles. This depends on your engine and the driving that you do. When your timing belt breaks it can damage your internal engine parts. It's just good maintenance to have your timing belt serviced at it's proper interval.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

My air conditioner doesn't work

I don't need to tell you that summer has finally arrived and it's hot outside. Now is not the time for your air conditioner to stop working. It could be something as simple as your air conditioning system that needs a recharge or you may need a repair. Either way give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

My diesel has no power

Your diesel could have a lack of power if your turbo is not working properly. This could be due to the internal components of your turbo failing. If the veins of the turbo are sticking or stuck closed, then it will cause a low boost issue and then that will cause a lack of power. There are other components in the turbo that will also cause a lack of power. If the actuator fails then the turbo will also be stuck in the wrong position causing a lack of power.  Give us call and let us take care of you. 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather

My oil can light came on

The oil can light on your dash is for your oil pressure. This light will come on when you have an issue with your oil pressure. This is one of those times that you should not keep driving and pull over as soon as it is safe too. The light could be on due to a faulty sensor but it comes on more times because of low oil pressure and this can be due to not enough oil or to much oil in your engine. It can also be due to the oil pump not pumping the correct amount of oil into your engine. It needs to be checked and diagnosed properly to prevent damage from occurring in your engine.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. 541-791-2886 Happy Adventures,  Heather
