When I turn my key nothing happens

This could be from either a bad electrical component or a bad battery. Unfortunately until it's checked out we won't know for sure. Even if your battery is new it could still have an issue. It doesn't happen often but sometimes a "cell" inside the the battery will go bad and the battery will need to be replaced. We install Interstate batteries. Our batteries have a 24 to 30 month free replacement, after that we can pro-rate you the balance for 5 to 6 years.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Did you know? Transmission fluids

Once upon a time there were only a couple types of transmission fluid. Now there are more than you can imagine. Transmissions have changed they went from very basic to computer controlled and high tech. These transmissions if the wrong type of fluid is put into them can cause damage and possible failure. With some of today's modern transmissions this can become an expensive mistake very quickly. Your owners manual may have the correct specification for your transmission, but not always. If you're not sure please give us a call and we would be happy to help you out.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

My pickup is running rough and when stopped it dies

This could be as simple as a bad spark plug that is causing a misfire and low to no power, or it could be something a bit more complicated that needs diagnosed and pinpoint tested. There are many components that can all cause this symptom. The best way to know is to make an appointment and have us take a look at it.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures, Heather

Running poorly

My pickup is in limp mode and it doesn't want to shift

This could be due to either a mechanical or electrical failure inside the transmission. Sometimes it's an easy repair and other times we have to remove the transmission and it may need to be rebuilt. The only way to know is to scan the transmission module for faults and then pinpoint test the wiring. This could also be due to low fluid in the transmission which we always check first and is an easy fix.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why should I replace my water pump with my timing belt?

Your timing belt should be replaced every 60,000 to 90,000 miles and of course that depends on your specific engine. Your water pump is driven by the timing belt, so it has the same amount of wear and hours as your timing belt. It's in your best interest to replace it at the same time to prevent a breakdown or a costly repair. Plus as Jason always puts it "it's cheap insurance." Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures, Heather

What is a brake fluid service?

A brake fluid service is when we flush out all of your brake lines and hydraulic components with new fluid. Over time your brake fluid will draw moisture and that moisture is hard on your braking components. Over time that moisture will begin to turn green and grow algae. When that contaminated fluid goes through your hydraulic system which consists of your brake calipers, brake master cylinder, brake booster it can cause damage and failure of those parts. Not every car has all of these components, but they all have at least one of them. A brake fluid service is good preventative maintenance and will help to prevent future issues. Give us a call and let us take care of you. Happy Adventures,  Heather

Did you know? J & H Automotive Inc

We decided to start a series that we will continue each Friday called did you know. It will talk about everything from getting to know us a bit better to random and important facts about your vehicle. Today's did you know will be about J & H Automotive, Inc. Did you know? Did you know that we opened on July 5, 2004. That when we first opened it was just Jason and a dream for him to do this own thing the way he wanted to. Since then we've grown to two more technicians and a fantastic service writer. We call them "The Crew" they're all part of our extended family and we appreciate them so much. In 14 years we've seen a lot of changes in the automotive industry and we do our best to keep up on technology. Last year we started to provide a digital inspection of your vehicle. It's just one more layer of transparency for you to know what's happening. Give us a call and let us take care of you. Happy Adventures,  Heather

My car is making a weird noise. Why?

Anytime that your vehicle starts to do something or make a different noise than normal then we're going to say it needs to be checked. Sometimes it super easy and we can give you some piece of mind just by listening to your car and other times it may take a bit of time to figure out where it's coming from. We know just how weird it can be to try and describe a noise that's coming from your vehicle, we've all been there. The best is when I'm driving and my car makes a noise and I call jason and tell him it's doing XYZ and then try to do it again when he's riding with me.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why is my pickup shaking

This depends on when your pickup is shaking. Is it at an idle? Driving down the road? Town speed? Freeway speed? When cornering? I know, so many questions. In order to properly diagnose the issue you're having it's best to be as descriptive as possible as to when it does it, where it does it, how you're driving when it does it. Now to answer at least one of those. When you're driving down the road at any speed and your pickup starts shaking it could be a U-Joint on your driveline. U-Joints wear out over a period of time and it this goes un-repaired it can lead to further damage of your driveline components and could in the worst case scenario cause an accident.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather
