Travel plans

Travel plans

A couple weeks ago Jason and I were fortunate enough to get to go with our oldest son to a water polo tournament in Modesto California. We made it a family trip and it was an awesome experience. The boys did well in the tournament and I look forward to going again in the future.  That being said it made me think that the holidays are not to far away and with that comes all the travel to grandma's house and to visit all those friends and relatives. This is the time to get your vehicle in to have it checked out. We can give you a list of anything that is important and those things that need to be taken care of in the future. We all just want to get where we are going without having to think about having car issues. Give us a call and we will schedule you an appointment so you get to grandma's house on time.  Happy Adventures Heather

Fall is here!!

Fall is here!!

Fall seems to have finally arrived in the pacific northwest,  I have finally become a summer person so I am now mourning the warm weather and sunny days. I know we need the rain and I am grateful for a chance to curl up on the couch with a good book and just relax for a moment.  With all of that comes fall and winter driving. If you grew up in the northwest rain isn't a new thing to you and you should be an expert by the time you get your license, although there are those days that after that long hot spell that the roads are slick and we tend to forget.  Please be safe and just give yourself a little more room to stop. Enjoy those all those fun fall events and colors.  Happy Adventures Heather

What are the symptoms of a bad transmission mount?

What are the symptoms of a bad transmission mount?

Do I need to change my brake fluid?

Do I need to change my brake fluid?

The answer is yes, really that shouldn't surprise you much. When your brake fluid becomes contaminated with water - it draws moisture out of the air - it can cause your brake components to rust from the inside out. It will break down your seals, master cylinder, calipers and wheel cylinders then you will have a leak or a seized caliper. Along with the rust issue the fluid also has a lower boiling point so when you're doing a lot of braking it can cause your brakes to not work as well as they should.  When you live in high humidity or an area that gets a lot of rain you can expect to need to change your brake fluid more often than if you lived in a drier climate.  You can make your appointment here and we will see if you are in need of a brake fluid service.  www.jhautomotiveinc.com/appointments/ Happy Adventures Heather

Why shouldn't I get my oil changed at a quick lube?

Why shouldn't I get my oil changed at a quick lube?

In a moments notice when you are traveling or even perhaps in an emergency that is fine. The biggest problem is that they are not all properly trained and they are not always looking out for your best interest. We had a gentleman decide to get a discounted oil change at a quick lube.  It was anything but a deal. They broke his oil pan and it had to be replaced. The person who changed his oil had no idea what they were doing and instead of a $25 oil change he got to purchase an oil pan. I know the difference was more than the extra $15 he would have spent here, and no they did not repay him for his loss of time and the repair. Yes it is oil and filter, the difference is the level of training and expertise that goes into it. Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures Heather

My Steering Wheel is Not Straight

My Steering Wheel is Not Straight

When your steering wheel is not straight it can be an issue with your alignment. Not all roads are maintained the same and some can have pot holes. If you hit one of those just right it can cause the tire alignment to be off making your steering wheel off center and your steering and suspension could be misaligned causing uneven tire wear and poor handling.  Give us a call to set up an appointment and we will do an alignment check for you. We recommend that you have an alignment performed on your vehicle every 12 months and each time you purchase new tires.  Happy Adventures Heather

Why do I have a tire pressure light?

Why do I have a tire pressure light?

Your tire pressure light lets you know when your tire pressure is low to prevent a blow out when you're driving down the highway. It also prevents tire damage from driving on tires that do not have enough pressure in them.  If that light comes on it's best to have it checked as soon as you can. Happy Adventures Heather

What is the ABS light for?

What is the ABS light for?

An ABS warning light indicates that there is something wrong with the ABS system. Your brakes will still work with this light on, but your ABS will not and that could be handy in an emergency situation.  Give us a call and we will take care of you.  Happy Adventures Heather
