If you drive a pickup and it's 4WD then you will have a front and rear differential. The fluid should be changed every 30,000 to 50,000 miles and that depends on where you tow and the conditions that you drive in. The fluid in your front and rear differentials is a specific gear oil and should be changed every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. The range really depends on how heavy your vehicle is and if and/or how much you tow with your vehicle. The first service should be somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 miles. When the gears are new they give off more metal.  Servicing the fluids in your vehicle more often is never a bad thing. The answer is yes, really that shouldn't surprise you much. When your brake fluid becomes contaminated with water - it draws moisture out of the air - it can cause your brake components to rust from the inside out. It will break down your seals, master cylinder, calipers and wheel cylinders then you will have a leak or a seized caliper.
