Should I use bio-diesel in my pickup?

There is nothing wrong with bio-diesel as long as your pickup's engine is made to use it. Many older diesel vehicles can handle the bio-diesel. Newer modern diesels use a high pressure fuel system and the pumps often cannot function properly and could even be damaged from a higher percentage of bio-diesel in the fuel. You should check your owner's manual or give us a call and we would be happy to look up what tolerance of bio-diesel your engine can tolerate. Since you're driving a diesel you should always keep on hand a high quality diesel fuel additive just in case you're ever in a situation that you have to use a bio-diesel that your vehicle may not tolerate well.   Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

What should I do if my car is blowing white smoke?

If your vehicle suddenly starts to blow white smoke then you should pull over as soon as it is safe to do so and to turn off your engine. Typically that means that something has gone wrong in your engine and it will need to be diagnosed. It could be something simple or you could have had a major failure.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Where to put your spare tire?

Did you know that when go to change a flat tire that you need to put the spare tire opposite of your drive tires.  If your car is front wheel drive and the flat is in the front then you will move one of your rear tires to the front and put your spare on the rear. The same is true if you have a rear wheel drive you would just do the opposite. Now if you have an all wheel drive vehicle then you need to have a spare tire that is the same size as your regular tires - in this case it doesn't matter where you put it.  Give us a call and let us take care of you. Summer Travel Tips - Number 7 - Pets

If you've ever stepped in the door you know all about Kenzie, Ashley and Bailey. They're the black labrador girls in the office. They're our girls and we're fortunate to bring them with us, they not only come to work with us but we also travel with them, and they go camping with us too. We've learned a few things since we got Kenzie in 2012 about what you need when you travel with your pet.  1. A go bag - it's the term that my Mom has always referred to as the bag you grab when you're headed out the door. I have a few of them, one is for the girls. It has all the needed items from water dish, leashes and disposal bags.  2. Water - I get a gallon jug and just refill it at the house, we also have a collapable silicone water dish, it's compact and it works great for the girls.  3. Leashes - while the girls are trained to be off the leash most places require that you have your dog on a leash, this is for the safety of your dog and for other ... read more

Why do I need to replace both calipers?

When one of your brake calipers fail it's very common to see the next one fail within a very short period of time. It also affects the equal braking on both of your wheels. We always recommend to replace both calipers if one has failed. It keeps you on the road longer and you also have the benefit of peace of mind knowing your brakes are functioning properly.  Give us a call at 541-791-2886 and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather

Why is my transmission fluid burnt?

When someone is describing that your transmission fluid is burnt, or smells burnt it is because at some point the transmission got hotter than it should have and burnt the fluid. It's similar to if you overheat oil when you're cooking. It can also be from lack of regular service, or an internal issue within your transmission. No matter what the reason if your fluid is burnt then it needs to be serviced and monitored in the future.  Give us a call and let us take care of you.  Happy Adventures,  Heather
