Timing belts should be done every 60-90K miles depending on your engine. When we do timing belts we also change your water pump, pulleys, thermostat, serpentine belts and the camshaft and crankshaft seals. Most of these all come in a complete kit and you know Murphy's law if you don't change it when you're there it will leak later. If your car is equipped with a timing belt then you should change your water pump and thermostat at the same time as you have your timing belt done. Typically with those engines it comes as a kit with the belt and components.  If your engine has a timing chain rather than a timing belt then it's not necessary to replace our water pump until it starts to leak or have an issue.  If you're wondering what type of engine you have then stop by and we'll check it and let you know.  Happy Adventures, Heather

Why does my car need a water pump with the timing belt? We always encourage those who have a timing belt to do the water pump at the same time, this is because in order to do your water pump you have to take off the timing belt to get to it. Really it makes good sense. I know there are more technical reasons and I could go ask Jason and he could give you all the explanations. I just don't want to charge you twice for the same job when I could have just done it all at the same time and saved you quite a bit of money.  Happy Adventures Heather
